This is the only short course award available to new members at Palm Beach. Spinal is one component of the Silver Medallion Advanced First Aid award (you also need ARTC + Advanced First Aid HLTAID006). Side benefit of this course: its free!!

Spinal management role is one of the critical functions on patrol... The award is quick to do, and provides an extension of Spinal management techniques from Bronze. The award covers:

• Manual immobilisation (learn the correct technique from Branch Facilitators/Assessors)
• When a ‘walk-up’ victim needs assistance
• Strapping (This is fun)
• Extricating a victim
• Stabilisation and retrieval in an aquatic environment
• Victim handover

Course numbers are strictly limited on a first-come-first-served basis. Palm Beach typically recieved no more than 12 places on any one course. The course is run by Branch.

Note: You MUST complete the eLearning for Spinal Management prior to the course via Members Area account here: https://portal.sls.com.au/.  You will find this course in the “SLS-­â€Lifesaving” category.
